ENUGU — The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has commended the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for its infrastructure and development initiatives across Enugu State, describing the projects as significant interventions capable of supporting economic expansion and improving the state’s development outlook.

The commendation followed the Guild’s inspection tour of major projects across the state and an interactive session with Governor Mbah at the Government House, Enugu, held on the sidelines of the 2026 All Nigeria Editors Conference, which attracted more than 300 editors and senior media executives.

Speaking after the tour, NGE President, Eze Anaba, said the exercise provided members of the Guild with an opportunity to assess the administration’s projects firsthand, particularly in critical sectors such as road infrastructure, healthcare, education, tourism and security.

Anaba noted that the scale of infrastructure development witnessed during the tour demonstrated the administration’s focus on using public resources to address development needs and create an enabling environment for economic activities.

“There’s a solid infrastructure on ground that will grow the economy and expand the state. If a sub-national like Enugu can deploy resources effectively and be this dedicated to infrastructure and governance, then there is hope for Nigeria,” Anaba said.

Also speaking, former Ogun State Governor and veteran journalist, Chief Segun Osoba, commended the administration’s technology-driven approach to security, particularly the deployment of modern security infrastructure and surveillance systems across the state.

Osoba referenced the response to the security incident in Affa, Udi Local Government Area, noting that the deployment of security assets contributed to the rescue of two kidnap victims. He urged other sub-national governments to examine and, where appropriate, adapt aspects of Enugu’s technology-based security architecture.

Responding to the observations, Governor Mbah explained that the various projects were not being implemented as isolated interventions but as interconnected components of a broader economic transformation strategy.

“What you saw—the security, transport, investments, tourism, and all that—are all interconnected. They are mutually reinforcing,” the Governor said.

Mbah reiterated his administration’s long-term economic ambition of growing Enugu State’s economy from an estimated $4.4 billion to $30 billion, while pursuing measures aimed at reducing poverty, expanding opportunities and creating an environment where residents can live, work, invest and build sustainable futures.

The Governor said the administration’s development strategy was designed around infrastructure, human capital, security, investment, transportation and other key sectors that collectively support sustainable economic growth.

The NGE’s assessment came as editors and senior media professionals participating in the 2026 All Nigeria Editors Conference continued engagements around governance, development, accountability and the role of the media in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic and economic institutions.
