BREAKING NEWS: MBAH INAUGURATES MULTI-BILLION-NAIRA PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY IN ENUGU.

Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries to Support Local Drug Manufacturing, Create Jobs and Strengthen Healthcare Delivery.

Enugu Media Village (EMV), the Most Updated Online News Platform — 27 October 2026.

GOVERNOR OF ENUGU  State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has inaugurated Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, a multi-billion-naira pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, in a development expected to expand local drug production, create employment opportunities and strengthen healthcare delivery.

The inauguration took place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, bringing a major private-sector investment into the state’s growing industrial and healthcare landscape. The development has also renewed attention on the role of local manufacturing in improving access to medicines and expanding economic opportunities.

Government Explores Partnership to Supply Public Health Facilities

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Mbah described the pharmaceutical facility as an investment not only in business but also in public health, economic development and the future of young people.

He said the state government would explore commercial partnerships with the company to supply medicines to its central medical stores and primary healthcare facilities.

The governor noted that the state was building 260 Type-2 primary healthcare centres, which would require dependable supplies of essential medicines to deliver services effectively.

A successful partnership could create a link between local pharmaceutical production and public healthcare needs. However, any supply arrangement would depend on agreed commercial terms, procurement procedures, product suitability and the necessary regulatory requirements.

Investment in Jobs, Skills and Local Production

The chairman of Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Limited’s Board of Directors, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke (rtd), commended the state government for creating an environment he described as supportive of investment.

He described the company as a long-term investment intended to generate employment, develop local talent and contribute to economic growth.

According to reports of the inauguration, Governor Mbah said the facility would provide employment opportunities, internship placements and skills-transfer opportunities for young people.

Such opportunities could benefit graduates and professionals in pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, logistics and related fields, depending on the company’s recruitment and operational needs.

The investment also reflects the potential contribution of private enterprises to Enugu’s industrial development by creating opportunities beyond the traditional public-sector employment structure.

Quality Assurance and Medicine Safety

The company’s Managing Director, Engr. Chima Madueke, said the company was established around the principles of quality and wellness, reflected in its slogan, “Anchored in Quality, Committed to Wellness.”

He stated that the company had obtained the necessary approvals and clearances from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

He also expressed the company’s commitment to quality assurance and its intention to contribute to efforts to address fake and substandard medicines.

For the facility to make a lasting contribution to public health, consistent compliance with applicable manufacturing standards, regulatory oversight, quality testing and appropriate distribution practices will remain essential.

What the Investment Means for Ndi Enugu

The establishment of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Enugu presents potential benefits for businesses, healthcare providers, workers and consumers.

For the economy, local production could support industrial activity, create jobs and stimulate demand for related services. For healthcare providers, a dependable local supplier could become an additional source of medicines, subject to product availability, quality and competitive pricing.

For residents, the wider objective is to improve access to safe, effective and affordable medicines. However, the inauguration alone does not establish the facility’s production capacity, the range of medicines it will manufacture, its output volumes or the extent to which its products will reduce medicine prices.

These outcomes will become clearer as the company’s operations develop and its contribution to the domestic pharmaceutical supply chain can be assessed.

Enugu’s Industrial Development Drive

Governor Mbah reiterated that private-sector investment remains central to the state’s economic development strategy, assuring investors of continued government support for an enabling business environment.

The inauguration of Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Limited adds to the developments being watched as Enugu seeks to expand its productive economy and attract enterprises capable of creating jobs and strengthening local supply chains.

For Ndi Enugu, the key measure of success will be the extent to which the investment translates into sustained manufacturing activity, employment, skills development, regulatory compliance and improved access to quality medicines.
