ENUGU — Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State will today receive a major national recognition as the Daily Times Nigeria celebrates its 100th anniversary with the prestigious DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards in Abuja.

The centenary ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, September 3, at the THISDAY Dome, Central Area, Abuja, brings together prominent political leaders, business executives, traditional rulers, public servants and other distinguished Nigerians whose contributions have impacted the nation’s development.

Governor Mbah is listed among governors from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to be recognised for outstanding leadership and developmental contributions. He will receive the Outstanding Governor, South East Award.

The recognition comes against the backdrop of the Mbah administration’s development agenda in Enugu State, particularly its emphasis on infrastructure renewal, urban transformation, digital governance, security and economic development.

Daily Times had earlier announced Governor Mbah among the prominent recipients of its centenary honours, with reports highlighting his administration’s investments in smart governance, security and urban renewal.

Governor Mbah had formally accepted the award in an acknowledgement letter dated August 19, 2026, expressing appreciation to the Board, Management and Organising Committee of Daily Times Nigeria for considering his contributions to public service worthy of the distinguished recognition.

The latest recognition places Enugu among states whose leadership is being highlighted at the national level as the Daily Times marks a century of journalism and its role in documenting Nigeria’s political, economic and social development.

Other major personalities listed for recognition include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Aliko Dangote, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and the Ooni of Ife, among others.

The centenary celebration, themed “A Century of Truth, A Future of Impact,” is expected to combine reflection on Nigeria’s past with recognition of individuals and institutions contributing to the country’s future.

For Enugu, Governor Mbah’s recognition represents another national spotlight on the state’s ongoing development drive and the growing attention surrounding its infrastructure and governance reforms.

As the governor joins other distinguished Nigerians at the Abuja ceremony, the honour further places Enugu’s current development trajectory within the wider national conversation on transformational leadership and sub-national development.
