Enugu Media Village (EMV), the Most Updated Online News Platform — Friday, October 30, 2026.

THE GOVERNOR OF ENUGU State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering sustainable development, expanding economic opportunities and building a prosperous future for the people of Enugu State, declaring that the journey towards a transformed Enugu is firmly underway.

The Governor made this declaration on Thursday, October 29, 2026, while addressing distinguished guests, academics, students and other stakeholders at an event held at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, under the theme: “Our Commitment to Ndi Enugu: The Journey So Far.”

The occasion provided a significant platform for the Governor to reflect on the journey of his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023, present its development achievements and renew his pledge to fulfil the mandate entrusted to him by the people.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mbah emphasised that governance must be measured not merely by the promises made but by the tangible improvements in the lives of citizens, the strength of public institutions and the opportunities created for future generations.

He recalled that Godfrey Okoye University was the same institution where he presented his development vision in October 2022, ahead of the 2023 governorship election. According to him, returning to the university to account for his administration’s performance reflects his conviction that leadership must be anchored on transparency, responsibility and measurable results.

Mbah Commends Prof. Christian Anieke for Advancing Education and Institutional Excellence

In a special moment during his address, Governor Mbah expressed profound appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the institution and the advancement of education in Enugu State.

The Governor acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership, dedication and significant impact on academic development, institutional advancement and the nurturing of intellectual capacity.

He recognised that the transformation of any society requires strong educational institutions and visionary individuals committed to building human capital.

Dr. Mbah’s appreciation underscored his administration’s recognition of the critical role universities, academic leaders and knowledge-driven institutions play in shaping the future of Enugu State.

SECURITY AND RESTORATION OF PUBLIC CONFIDENCE

Reviewing the progress recorded since assuming office, the Governor highlighted the administration’s efforts to address insecurity and restore normalcy to economic and social activities across the state.

He recalled the difficult period when sit-at-home restrictions disrupted businesses, education, transportation and the livelihoods of ordinary residents.

He noted that restoring confidence, protecting economic activities and ensuring that residents can go about their daily responsibilities remain central to his administration’s development priorities.

The Governor maintained that security is not merely a government responsibility but a fundamental requirement for economic prosperity, social stability and public confidence.

INFRASTRUCTURE, EDUCATION AND HEALTHCARE: BUILDING THE FOUNDATION FOR PROSPERITY

Dr. Mbah further highlighted the administration’s strategic investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation and other critical sectors.

On education, he reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to establishing 260 Smart Green Schools across the 260 wards of the state, describing the initiative as a deliberate investment in the intellectual capacity and future competitiveness of Enugu children.

He explained that the vision goes beyond constructing school buildings to creating modern learning environments capable of preparing young people for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

On healthcare, the Governor emphasised the importance of strengthening primary healthcare facilities and expanding access to quality medical services, noting that a healthy population remains fundamental to a productive society.

He also highlighted road construction, transportation infrastructure and aviation development as strategic interventions designed to strengthen connectivity, stimulate commerce and attract investment.

THE $30 BILLION ECONOMY: A VISION OF ECONOMIC REPOSITIONING

Reaffirming his administration’s ambition to transform Enugu’s economy from approximately $4.4 billion to $30 billion, Governor Mbah declared that the state’s economic future must be built on productivity, innovation, investment and strategic diversification.

He explained that the administration’s economic vision is anchored on expanding opportunities in agriculture, industrialisation, tourism, technology, infrastructure and human capital development.

According to him, the objective is to position Enugu as a competitive economic destination where businesses can thrive, investors can find opportunities and citizens can achieve sustainable prosperity.

The Governor maintained that the transformation of Enugu requires deliberate policies, disciplined implementation and the collective determination of its people.

A CALL TO COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY

In his address, Dr. Mbah urged Ndi Enugu to remain committed to the collective aspiration of building a state that works for everyone.

He emphasised that government cannot achieve sustainable development in isolation, stressing the importance of citizens’ participation, private-sector collaboration, institutional support and community ownership of development initiatives.

He called on stakeholders across political, professional, traditional, religious and academic institutions to place the collective interest of Enugu above individual considerations.

The Governor further assured residents of his administration’s determination to sustain its development agenda, address outstanding challenges and consolidate the gains already recorded.

PROF. ANIEKE HAILS GOVERNOR’S COMMITMENT TO ACCOUNTABILITY

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, commended Governor Mbah for returning to the institution to present an account of his administration’s stewardship.

He noted the significance of the Governor’s return to the same university where he had presented his development manifesto before the 2023 election, describing the gesture as an important demonstration of accountability in public leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged political leaders to embrace the culture of reporting their achievements and remaining answerable to the people they serve.

ENUGU’S DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY: A SHARED DESTINY

The event reinforced the importance of accountability, institutional collaboration and collective responsibility in advancing the development of Enugu State.

For Governor Mbah, the task ahead remains clear: to translate the aspirations of Ndi Enugu into measurable progress, strengthen the state’s economic foundations and build institutions that will continue to serve generations yet unborn.

His administration’s message remains anchored on the conviction that Tomorrow Is Here—not merely as a political declaration, but as a development commitment requiring vision, discipline, determination and measurable results.
