THE FEDERAL  Government has trained 150 youths in Enugu State in practical vocational and technology-driven skills, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), solar installation and fashion design, as part of efforts to promote youth empowerment, employability and entrepreneurship.

The two-week skills acquisition programme was designed to equip participants with relevant technical knowledge and hands-on experience to enable them to explore employment opportunities, establish businesses and become economically self-reliant.

TRAINING FOCUSES ON EMERGING TECHNOLOGY AND VOCATIONAL SKILLS

The programme featured three major areas of training, reflecting the growing importance of digital innovation, renewable energy and the creative industry.

Participants received training in Artificial Intelligence, an emerging technology with applications across several sectors, including business, education, communication and digital services.

The solar installation component focused on developing practical skills in renewable energy systems, while fashion design provided participants with vocational knowledge and opportunities to establish businesses within the garment and creative industries.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ECONOMIC SELF-RELIANCE

Beyond technical training, the initiative seeks to prepare beneficiaries for entrepreneurship by equipping them with skills that can be converted into sustainable sources of income.

The programme also underscores the importance of practical education and vocational development in addressing youth unemployment and expanding opportunities within Nigeria’s growing digital and creative economies.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF ENUGU YOUTHS

The training forms part of broader efforts to strengthen youth capacity through skills development, technology adoption and entrepreneurship support.

For the beneficiaries, the next important step will be applying the knowledge acquired, developing marketable services and exploring opportunities to establish viable businesses.
