ENUGU — A 19-year-old student from Anambra State, Franklin Uyammadu, has emerged winner of the Face of Eastwing Competition, organised by the Eastwing Aviation Institute in Enugu.
Uyammadu was declared winner at the grand finale of the competition held in Enugu on Monday, earning him a four-month Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) training with a reputable aviation company.
The young aviation enthusiast had previously won the inaugural 2025 edition of the South-East Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC), defeating 50 other participants.
His victory earned him a full scholarship to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) at the Eastwing Aviation Institute.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Director of the Eastwing Youth Foundation and Convener of SASEYC, Mr. Christian Agadibe, said Uyammadu’s progress demonstrates the practical impact of the initiative in creating opportunities for young people interested in aviation.
Agadibe disclosed that the institute had funded Uyammadu’s training through the AME programme, while efforts were ongoing to secure support for other finalists.
He noted that the 2026 edition of SASEYC is already progressing, with the current top 10 finalists undergoing further training ahead of the summit scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Enugu.
The initiative is designed to expose young people across the South-East to aviation-related skills, professional training and career opportunities, particularly for youths who may otherwise lack the financial capacity to pursue specialised aviation education.
Uyammadu’s success therefore highlights the growing importance of youth-focused educational initiatives in building skilled manpower and creating sustainable career pathways for young Nigerians.
