President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerian leaders and citizens to place the public good and national development above personal interests and self-aggrandisement.

The President made the call at St. Monica Cathedral of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, during a thanksgiving service held to celebrate the 70th birthday of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Boss Mustapha.

Represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, President Tinubu stressed the importance of patriotic leadership and genuine commitment to public service.

According to the President, Nigeria needs men and women who are prepared to put national interests ahead of personal ambitions and remain dedicated to serving the people.

He urged public officials and citizens to embrace devotion to the common good as a core national value, noting that sustainable development requires leaders who are driven by service rather than personal gain.

The message comes amid continuing national efforts to strengthen governance, economic reforms and institutional development, with the administration repeatedly stressing the importance of collective responsibility in building a stronger Nigeria.

At the event, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang described Boss Mustapha as a benchmark for integrity in public service, while Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, also commended the former SGF for his contributions to nation-building.

The President’s call has further renewed conversations about the need for public office holders to uphold accountability, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility to the Nigerian people.
