THE Enugu State House of Assembly has dissolved its Standing Committee on Health over allegations of gross misconduct and high-handedness, with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, constituting a five-member ad-hoc disciplinary committee to investigate the matter.
The Speaker announced the dissolution during plenary after citing alleged unruly conduct by the committee chairman, Hon. Okechukwu Aneke, during an executive session held on September 21, 2026. He also alleged high-handedness in the running of the committee.
The dissolved committee comprised Hon. Okechukwu Aneke representing Udi South Constituency, Hon. Harrison Ogara of Igbo-Eze South, Hon. Osita Okoh of Enugu East Urban and Hon. Anthony Nwankwo of Awgu South.
The five-member ad-hoc disciplinary committee, headed by Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, has been mandated to investigate the allegations and submit its report to the House within 14 days.
The development forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing legislative and oversight activities, with the House also receiving the report on the annual accounts of Enugu State for the financial year ended December 31, 2025, during the same plenary.
The allegations against the affected lawmakers remain subject to the outcome of the Assembly’s investigation, and no final disciplinary finding has been reported at this stage.
Enugu Media Village (EMV) will continue to monitor the proceedings and provide updates as the ad-hoc committee carries out its assignment.
