ENUGU, NIGERIA — Senator Ikeje Asogwa has fulfilled his pre-senatorial by-election campaign promise by redeeming the ₦10 million cash pledge he made to reward outstanding electoral performance during the recently concluded Enugu North Senatorial by-election, which he won resoundingly.

The pledge, which comprised ₦5 million each, was given to Nsukka LGA and Uzo-Uwani LGA, following their exceptional performance at the poll. The gesture, according to the Senator’s team, was in recognition of the strong support and electoral commitment demonstrated by the people of the two local government areas during the election.

Funds Released for Disbursement:

In his remarks, Hon. Samson Ezea, Director of Media, Publicity and Communication to the Senator, said the funds have been released to the Chairmen of the two victorious local government areas for onward disbursement in line with the purpose of the pledge.

Hon. Ezea explained that the fulfilment of the promise demonstrates Senator Asogwa’s commitment to keeping his word and appreciating the people who contributed significantly to his electoral victory.

A Gesture of Appreciation:

The redemption of the pledge further underscores the Senator’s appreciation for the people of Enugu North Senatorial District and their confidence in his leadership. It also reinforces the principle that electoral commitments should translate into tangible actions beyond the election period.

Senator Asogwa’s gesture is expected to strengthen the relationship between the Senator and his constituents while promoting a culture of accountability, appreciation and responsiveness in political leadership.

For Enugu Media Village (EMV), the development represents another important example of the need for public office holders to remain connected to the people and demonstrate commitment to promises made during election campaigns.

The Senator’s fulfilment of the ₦10 million pledge therefore marks a significant step in translating campaign commitments into action, while reaffirming his appreciation for the people of Nsukka and Uzo-Uwani Local Government Areas for their exceptional electoral support.
