Road and drainage construction works are progressing across parts of Enugu metropolis and adjoining communities as the Enugu State Government intensifies monitoring of infrastructure projects aimed at improving accessibility and strengthening stormwater management.
The Enugu State Ministry of Works is monitoring ongoing interventions in New Haven, Ugwuaji and Akwuke, with attention focused on the quality, pace and effective delivery of the projects.
The projects form part of the state government’s broader infrastructure development programme, which places emphasis on improving road connectivity, easing movement within communities and providing durable drainage systems to manage stormwater.
In New Haven and other urban areas, improved road infrastructure is expected to support residential and commercial activities while enhancing connectivity between neighbourhoods and major routes.
At Ugwuaji and Akwuke, the integration of road and drainage works is particularly important for addressing water-related challenges and improving the resilience of local infrastructure during periods of heavy rainfall.
The Ministry of Works has continued to stress the importance of proper engineering standards and project supervision to ensure that public infrastructure delivers lasting value to residents.
The monitoring of the projects also reflects the administration’s broader commitment to ensuring that infrastructure investments translate into visible improvements in the daily lives of citizens.
Residents in the affected communities are expected to benefit from improved road conditions, better accessibility and more effective stormwater control as the projects progress towards completion.
The developments are part of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s wider infrastructure agenda, which seeks to expand connectivity, modernise Enugu’s urban landscape and provide the infrastructure required to support economic growth and sustainable development.
