Nigeria is set to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Saturday, November 21, 2026, with Abuja confirmed as the venue for the continent’s highest football decision-making meeting.

The CAF Executive Committee confirmed the date during its virtual meeting on October 2, as part of decisions on the organisation’s 2026–2030 competitions calendar and major events.

The General Assembly will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BTICC), Abuja, and is expected to bring together representatives of CAF’s 54 member associations, including football federation presidents and other senior stakeholders.

The Assembly provides a platform for African football leaders to deliberate on key issues concerning the administration, governance, competitions and strategic direction of football on the continent.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe had earlier announced Nigeria as host, describing the country as a proud football nation and expressing confidence in its capacity to contribute to the development of the game across Africa.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Federal Government have been working with CAF on preparations for the event. A CAF inspection team previously assessed key facilities in Abuja, including the international airport, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.

Nigeria will also host the 2026 CAF Awards in Lagos on December 7, making the country the venue for two major CAF events within the final months of the year.

The hosting of the General Assembly is expected to place Nigeria at the centre of important conversations concerning the future direction and development of African football.

Enugu Media Village (EMV) will continue to provide verified updates on the preparations and proceedings of the landmark continental football gathering.
