LAGOS — The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has unveiled plans for a major Initial Public Offering (IPO) expected to raise about ₦2.15 trillion, with the company targeting up to 10 million retail investors across Nigeria.
The offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, while the minimum subscription is set at 10 shares, costing ₦5,250. The offer is scheduled to open on September 14, 2026.
The low entry point is designed to make ownership accessible to ordinary Nigerians, including workers, traders and small-scale investors. Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, described the transaction as an opportunity to broaden public ownership of the refinery.
The refinery plans to use proceeds from the offering to support expansion that could increase its current capacity of 700,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.
The proposed IPO is being described as one of the largest public equity offerings in Africa, with the company also considering additional international listings.
The development is expected to attract significant attention from Nigeria’s growing retail investment community as the country continues to deepen participation in the capital market.
