GOVERNOR OF ENUGU State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has presented an account of his administration’s performance, highlighting key achievements, ongoing projects and development initiatives across critical sectors of the state.
The presentation, titled “Our Commitment to Ndi Enugu: The Journey So Far,” provided an opportunity to review the administration’s activities since assuming office in May 2023, with particular attention to infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation, security and economic development.
Infrastructure and Transportation Development
The Governor highlighted investments in road construction, rehabilitation and transportation infrastructure, describing improved connectivity as an important component of the state’s economic development strategy.
He also referenced the expansion of aviation services, including the establishment of Enugu Air, as part of efforts to strengthen Enugu’s connectivity, attract investors and position the state as a destination for commerce and tourism.
Education and Healthcare Reforms
On education, Mbah outlined the Smart Green Schools initiative, which targets the establishment of 260 modern schools across the state’s 260 wards.
In healthcare, he highlighted investments aimed at strengthening primary healthcare delivery, improving medical facilities and expanding access to quality health services across the state.
Security and Economic Development
The Governor also addressed security, recalling the challenges associated with the sit-at-home disruptions and their effects on businesses, schools and other economic activities.
He said improved security had helped restore normal economic activities, creating an environment in which residents could pursue their livelihoods and businesses could operate.
On the economy, Mbah reiterated his administration’s ambition to grow Enugu’s economy from approximately $4.4 billion to $30 billion, with investments in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, aviation and other productive sectors forming part of the strategy.
Mbah Acknowledges Outstanding Responsibilities
While highlighting achievements, the Governor acknowledged that more work remained to be done, particularly in ensuring that ongoing projects and government interventions translate into tangible benefits for every community.
He reaffirmed his commitment to completing projects, strengthening public services and expanding development opportunities across the state.
University Vice-Chancellor Commends Accountability Initiative
The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Prof. Christian Anieke, also acknowledged the significance of the Governor’s return to the institution to present an account of his administration’s performance.
He recalled that Mbah had presented his manifesto at the same university in October 2022, ahead of the 2023 governorship election, describing the performance review as an important accountability exercise.
The Governor’s presentation took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.
A Call for Collective Responsibility
The Governor called on Ndi Enugu, community leaders, investors, business owners and other stakeholders to contribute towards the continued development of the state.
He emphasised that building a prosperous Enugu requires collective responsibility, sustained collaboration and active citizen participation.
The performance report provided an opportunity for residents to examine the administration’s stated achievements, assess ongoing projects and identify areas where further government attention is required.
