The Federal Ministry of Education, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Enugu State Government have partnered to strengthen the capacity of teachers in the state’s Smart Schools through the Nigerian Learning Passport (NLP).
The three-day intensive workshop is designed to equip teachers with modern digital teaching skills and enable them to make more effective use of technology and online learning resources in the classroom.
The Nigerian Learning Passport is a digital learning platform that provides access to quality educational resources online and offline, supporting continuous learning for students and professional development for teachers.
The latest initiative builds on Enugu State’s broader push for digital transformation in education. The state’s education work plan prioritises digital literacy, teacher training and the use of technology, including artificial intelligence-supported tools, to improve lesson planning and learning assessment.
Earlier training supported by UNICEF and ENSUBEB also involved about 300 Enugu teachers, who were prepared to serve as trainers and mentors for other teachers within the Smart School system.
The partnership is expected to deepen the use of technology in teaching, strengthen teachers’ professional capacity and support Enugu’s drive to build a modern, digitally equipped education system.
