ENUGU, NIGERIA — The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Research & Strategy, Hon. Engr. Uche Kelvin Edeh, has congratulated His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, on his prestigious recognition at the Daily Times Nigeria @100 (DTN@100) Heroes Awards.
Governor Mbah is being honoured with the Daily Times Innovation and Infrastructure Award, recognising his administration’s investments in smart governance, infrastructure, security and urban renewal. The award is part of the centenary celebration of Daily Times Nigeria, which is marking 100 years of journalism and service to the nation.
In his congratulatory message, Hon. Edeh described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Mbah’s visionary leadership, courage, innovation and commitment to transforming Enugu State into a modern, economically vibrant and globally competitive destination.
According to him, the recognition is particularly significant because it comes from a newspaper with a century-long history of documenting Nigeria’s political, economic and social development.
Hon. Edeh noted that the award goes beyond celebrating an individual, stressing that it represents a recognition of the collective efforts of the people and government of Enugu State in driving sustainable development.
He said Governor Mbah’s administration has demonstrated that strategic leadership, policy innovation, infrastructure development and human-capital investment can combine to reposition a state and create new opportunities for its citizens.
The Daily Times had earlier announced Governor Mbah among the recipients of its centenary honours, with the organisers highlighting his administration’s investments in innovation, infrastructure, smart governance, security and urban renewal.
Hon. Edeh further congratulated Daily Times Nigeria on attaining the remarkable milestone of 100 years, describing the newspaper’s centenary as an important moment in the history of Nigerian journalism.
He acknowledged the role of the media in strengthening democracy, promoting accountability, preserving national memory and providing platforms for public discourse.
He therefore commended the management and organising committee of the DTN@100 celebration for recognising individuals and institutions whose contributions continue to shape Nigeria’s development.
The SSA on Research & Strategy expressed confidence that the honour would further motivate the Governor and his administration to deepen their commitment to the development of Enugu State.
He said the people of Enugu State have every reason to celebrate the Governor’s recognition and the growing national attention being attracted by the state’s development trajectory.
The DTN@100 celebration is being held in Abuja today, September 3, 2026, with prominent political, business, traditional and media leaders expected to participate. The event is themed “A Century of Truth, A Future of Impact.”
Hon. Edeh prayed for continued wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Mbah as he leads Enugu State, while reaffirming his commitment to supporting the administration’s research-driven policies and strategic initiatives.
He described Governor Mbah as “a leader whose vision is steadily translating into measurable development and renewed confidence in the future of Enugu State.”
