ENUGU State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has inaugurated the reconstituted Governing Councils of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, and Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET), alongside the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Board and the State Civil Service Commission.
The inauguration, held at the Government House, Enugu, was conducted on the Governor’s behalf by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.
Mbah said the reconstitution was part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen institutions and improve efficiency, accountability and results across the state.
He charged the new leadership of the institutions to operate with evidence, merit, innovation, teamwork, transparency and accountability, stressing that strong institutions and skilled manpower were essential to achieving the state’s economic development objectives.
The Governor further linked the assignments to the administration’s ambition of growing Enugu State’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, noting that the target requires an efficient civil service, quality education and a workforce equipped for the demands of a 21st-century economy.
The newly inaugurated bodies include the Governing Councils of ESUT, IMT, Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, ESCET, as well as the TVET Board and State Civil Service Commission.
EMV reports that the development comes as the Mbah administration continues to place emphasis on institutional reform, education, technical skills development and human capital development as key components of its broader development agenda.
