The Governor also inaugurated the reconstituted Enugu State Civil Service Commission at a ceremony held at the Government House, Enugu, on Wednesday. The development is part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen institutions and improve efficiency and service delivery.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Governor Mbah charged the newly inaugurated leadership teams to uphold transparency, traceability, accountability, meritocracy, innovation and teamwork in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Mbah said the state’s ambition to grow its economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion required strong institutions, an efficient public service and a workforce equipped with the skills needed for a 21st-century economy.
He urged the new councils and boards to adopt evidence-based decision-making, examine existing processes and introduce innovative approaches capable of improving institutional efficiency and results.
The Governor further stressed the importance of collaboration, warning against working in silos and urging the new leadership to complement one another in advancing the objectives of their respective institutions.
Among those inaugurated were Barr. Victor Chukwuani, Chairman of the ESUT Governing Council; Hon. Chinedu Onu, Chairman of the IMT Governing Council; Deaconess Ifeoma Nwobodo, Chairman of the Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo Governing Council; and Barr. Nwabueze Ugwu, Chairman of the ESCET Governing Council. Dr. Amaka Ngene was inaugurated as Chairman of the TVET Board.
The newly constituted councils and board are expected to work with the management of their respective institutions to strengthen academic and technical education, improve institutional administration and support the development of skilled manpower for Enugu State’s growing economy.
Speaking after the inauguration, representatives of the institutions expressed appreciation to the Governor and pledged to contribute to the administration’s education and human-capital development agenda.
Enugu Media Village (EMV) reports that the inauguration comes as the Enugu State Government continues to place institutional strengthening, education and skills development at the centre of its broader development strategy.
