The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reassured Nigerians and the international community of its commitment to neutrality, operational readiness and the integrity of the electoral process as the country enters the final 100-day countdown to the 2027 general election.

The commission said it remains focused on ensuring that eligible Nigerians can participate freely and that the electoral process is conducted in accordance with the law.

The development comes as political activities and preparations for the 2027 elections intensify across the country, with stakeholders expected to play their respective roles in safeguarding the credibility of the democratic process.

INEC’s reassurance is coming at a critical period as political parties, candidates, civil society organisations and voters increasingly turn their attention to the forthcoming elections.

The commission has continued to emphasise the importance of institutional neutrality, adequate preparation and public confidence in delivering credible elections.

With just 100 days to the polls, INEC’s assurance is expected to further place the spotlight on voter registration, collection of Permanent Voter Cards, election logistics, security arrangements and the need for peaceful political campaigns.

The commission urged Nigerians to remain committed to democratic values and to obtain accurate information from official channels as preparations for the elections continue.
