ENUGU State is set to host the Enugu Youth Skill Acquisition & Empowerment Programme 2026 on Friday, October 23, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to promote youth development, encourage self-reliance and equip young people with practical skills for a productive future.
The programme, themed “Unlocking Youth Potential, Transforming Tomorrow,” is scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, by 10:00 a.m. It will be hosted by Hon. Charles Nnaemeka Edeh, S.A. on Youths Development and Mobilisation to Enugu Government, with His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, serving as Chief Host.
The initiative highlights the importance of empowering young people with relevant skills, entrepreneurial knowledge and opportunities to participate meaningfully in the state’s economic development.
Under Governor Mbah’s development vision, human capital development, education, innovation and economic expansion remain important areas of focus. The administration’s emphasis on building a productive and diversified economy underscores the need to prepare young people to take advantage of emerging opportunities across different sectors.
The forthcoming programme is expected to draw attention to the role of skills acquisition in addressing youth unemployment, encouraging entrepreneurship and promoting economic independence. By creating awareness around practical skills and empowerment opportunities, the event also seeks to inspire young people to become creators of value, employers of labour and contributors to community development.
The theme, “Unlocking Youth Potential, Transforming Tomorrow,” reflects the understanding that the future of Enugu State depends, in part, on how effectively the talents, creativity and capabilities of its young population are developed and harnessed.
Youth empowerment goes beyond providing immediate assistance. It involves equipping young people with the knowledge, technical competence, confidence and opportunities required to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the state’s long-term prosperity.
As Enugu State pursues its broader economic transformation agenda, initiatives focused on skills development and entrepreneurship can help bridge the gap between young people’s aspirations and the opportunities available to them.
The programme therefore provides an important platform for highlighting youth participation as a key component of sustainable development, while encouraging young people to embrace innovation, acquire marketable skills and prepare for the demands of a changing economy.
