JUST IN: Court Nullifies Uzodimma’s APC Senatorial Ticket, Orders INEC to Recognise Okorocha.

Federal High Court Rules in Favour of Former Imo Governor in Imo West Senatorial Primary Dispute Ahead of the 2027 Elections.

Enugu Media Village (EMV), the Most Updated Online News Platform — October 29, 2026.

THE FEDERAL High Court in Abuja has reportedly nullified the emergence of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise former governor Rochas Okorocha as the party’s nominee.

According to a report published by Blueprint and republished by Apex News, Justice Obiora Egwuatu delivered the judgment on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following a legal dispute over the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026.

The court reportedly held that the evidence before it established that Okorocha secured the valid nomination, and consequently directed INEC to recognise and publish his name as the APC candidate for the senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Background to the Legal Dispute

The disagreement arose after INEC recognised Uzodimma as the winner of the APC primary, a decision Okorocha challenged in court.

The former governor argued that the commission’s recognition of Uzodimma contradicted records and reports relating to the conduct and outcome of the primary election.

The case, filed against INEC, the APC and Uzodimma, generated conflicting accounts of the votes allegedly secured by the two aspirants.

While Okorocha’s camp presented figures claiming that he won the exercise, representatives of Uzodimma and the party disputed the account and maintained that the governor emerged victorious.

The court reportedly ruled in favour of Okorocha after considering the evidence and arguments presented by the parties.

Implications for the 2027 Elections

The ruling represents a significant development in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, particularly the contest for the Imo West Senatorial District, also known as Orlu Senatorial District.

It could reshape the political calculations surrounding the contest and place the APC and INEC at the centre of the steps required to implement the court’s decision.

However, the legal implications and final status of the nomination will depend on the applicable judicial process and any subsequent proceedings that may arise.

EMV’s Note

As political parties prepare for the 2027 elections, the development highlights the importance of transparent party primaries, credible electoral records and adherence to judicial decisions.

Readers should watch for official statements from the APC, INEC and the parties involved regarding implementation of the judgment and any further legal action.
