Governor Highlights the New Headquarters as a Symbol of Igbo Heritage, Unity and Institutional Renewal.

ENUGU State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has inspected the newly constructed World Headquarters of Ọhanaeze Ndigbo on Park Avenue, Enugu GRA, as the landmark facility moves towards completion and its scheduled handover in October 2026.
Governor Mbah undertook the working inspection alongside former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, President-General of Ọhanaeze Ndigbo, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, and other stakeholders involved in the project. Reports indicate that the facility is in its final phase of construction.
The new headquarters is designed as a permanent institutional home for Ọhanaeze Ndigbo and features twin auditoriums for meetings and major gatherings, administrative offices, conference rooms, an office for the President-General, an interactive audiovisual library and dedicated spaces for Igbo art, history and cultural heritage.
The project is being funded by Senator Rochas Okorocha, who has described the development as a contribution towards providing the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation with a befitting headquarters. Walsh Blanc is overseeing the construction and execution of the facility.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Mbah described the project as significant to the Igbo people, particularly because it is located in Enugu, which serves as the headquarters of the organisation and a major centre of Igbo political, cultural and historical identity.
According to the Governor, the edifice provides an opportunity for Ndigbo to reflect on their shared roots and strengthen their collective identity. He also commended the initiative for giving Ọhanaeze Ndigbo a facility capable of hosting major meetings and activities on its own premises.
Senator Okorocha, on his part, said the decision to construct the headquarters was motivated by the desire to provide Ọhanaeze Ndigbo with a more befitting permanent home. He said the facility was conceived to reinforce Igbo identity, preserve the people’s history and provide an institutional base from which the organisation can better serve Ndigbo in Nigeria and the diaspora.
The new headquarters is expected to replace the existing Ọhanaeze secretariat and provide expanded administrative and gathering spaces for the organisation. Its inclusion of library, audiovisual and cultural spaces also gives the project a heritage-preservation dimension, with previous plans indicating an intention to incorporate facilities dedicated to Igbo music, art and culture.
The inspection comes as construction approaches its scheduled October handover, marking another stage in the development of what is expected to become a major institutional and cultural landmark in Enugu.
The new Ọhanaeze Ndigbo World Headquarters is therefore set to serve not only as an administrative centre but also as a space for meetings, cultural preservation, documentation and engagement among Ndigbo at home and across the diaspora.
