The Director-General of Enugu Media Village (EMV) and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Research and Strategy, Hon. Engr. Uche Kelvin Edeh, has described today’s local government elections in Enugu State as one of the most peaceful and transparent electoral outings witnessed in the state.

Hon. Edeh particularly commended the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for the atmosphere of peace and order witnessed across the state, while also applauding the security agencies for their professionalism and commitment to maintaining a peaceful electoral environment.
According to the EMV Director-General, the Enugu Media Village monitoring and reporting team had extensive coverage across wards and polling units in different parts of the state. He noted that, based on the reports received by the organisation from its field teams so far, there had been no reported incident of disruption or violence in the areas covered by EMV.

He further commended the people of Enugu State for conducting themselves peacefully and responsibly, stressing that the success of any democratic exercise depends not only on government and security agencies but also on the maturity and civic responsibility of citizens.
The September 26 local government elections were conducted across the state’s 17 Local Government Areas and 260 wards. Political parties participating in the election had earlier signed a peace accord committing themselves to a peaceful and non-violent electoral process.

Hon. Uche Kelvin Edeh therefore expressed appreciation to the Governor, the security agencies, electoral officials, political parties, candidates and the people of Enugu State for contributing to what he described as a peaceful electoral outing.
