Community Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation for APC, Citing Equity, Justice and Good Governance.

The Ngwo Clan General Assembly has endorsed Enugu State Governor, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming elections, while declaring its rejection of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidates.
The position was contained in a statement signed by the President of the Ngwo Clan General Assembly, Hon. Barr. Kenneth Ani Kofi, dated September 11, 2026, and made available to journalists in Enugu.
According to the statement, the decision followed what the clan leadership described as political marginalisation of Ngwo people by the NDC. It alleged that several Ngwo indigenes who participated in the party’s activities and purchased nomination forms were not eventually given the opportunity to contest under the party’s platform.
The clan leadership also cited the case of an Ngwo indigene who, according to its account, won the NDC State House of Assembly primary for Udi South Constituency but was not subsequently fielded as the party’s candidate.
The assembly further recalled the contributions of the late Chief C.C. Onoh to the struggle for the creation of Enugu State, expressing dissatisfaction with what it described as political exclusion of the Ngwo people.
Consequently, the Ngwo Clan General Assembly declared that it would not support the NDC or its candidates and advised the party against embarking on campaign activities in Ngwo land.
Mbah, Ngwu, Atu, Onoh, Others Endorsed
The community endorsed Governor Peter Mbah, Senator Osita Ngwu, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, Dr. Festus Uzor, Dr. Okey Aneke, Enugu North Local Government Chairman Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, Engr. Hyginus Agu, and other APC candidates across various levels.
The assembly said its decision was based on its assessment that the APC had demonstrated commitment to equity, justice, fairness, inclusive governance and development in Enugu State.
The Ngwo leadership also pledged to mobilise voters in support of the endorsed APC candidates, beginning with the forthcoming local government elections.
It further commended Senator Osita Ngwu for what it described as impactful representation, particularly in road infrastructure, scholarships, empowerment and human-capital development.
Similarly, the assembly praised the administration of Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh in Enugu North Local Government Area, citing interventions in health, youth empowerment, education, human-capital development, security and infrastructure.
The development adds a significant community-level dimension to the emerging political contest in Enugu State, as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
