Enugu Governor Honoured in Virginia as Organisers Commend His Administration’s Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare and Economic Transformation Agenda.

ENUGU State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has received an Award of Good Governance at the 10th edition of the African Community Service Awards (ACSA) held in Virginia, United States of America.
The recognition places fresh international spotlight on the Governor’s development agenda in Enugu, with organisers commending his administration’s efforts in education, healthcare, infrastructure, transportation and economic development.
The award, presented during the ceremony in Virginia, was received on behalf of Governor Mbah by Dr. Madueke Ekoh, who expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the administration’s development efforts.
According to the organisers, Governor Mbah’s administration has demonstrated a commitment to repositioning Enugu as a modern and economically competitive state through major investments and reforms across critical sectors.
Among the initiatives highlighted were the development of 260 Smart Green Schools across the state’s political wards, the construction of 260 primary healthcare centres, healthcare infrastructure, strategic road projects and the development of the new Enugu City project.
The organisers also cited the transformation of the state’s transportation system through modern bus terminals, CNG-powered buses and taxis, as well as the development of Enugu Air, which they said could strengthen connectivity, tourism, commerce and investment.
The renovation of major state assets, including the Presidential Hotel, reconstruction of the International Conference Centre and other economic infrastructure, was also highlighted as part of the administration’s broader development agenda.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Dr. Ekoh described Mbah as a leader with a strong commitment to the welfare, dignity and future of the people of Enugu State.
He said the Governor’s vision had moved beyond promises to concrete projects and policies designed to create a stronger, healthier, more prosperous and globally competitive Enugu.
The African Community Service Awards 2026 was held on September 6, 2026, at the Marriott Fairview in Falls Church, Virginia, as an event celebrating individuals and organisations making significant contributions to African communities globally.
The international recognition comes amid growing attention to the Mbah administration’s development programmes and adds another global dimension to the Governor’s efforts to reposition Enugu through infrastructure, human capital development, healthcare, education, transportation and economic transformation.
