_Enugu, Thursday 6th August 2026_ — _Enugu Media Village_ yesterday hosted a colourful and well-attended _Grand Finale and Award Presentation Ceremony of the Best Performing Local Government Chairman in Enugu State_, celebrating leaders who are driving _His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s_ _Tomorrow is Here_ agenda across the 17 LGAs of Enugu State.
The event, held in Enugu, drew political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, clergy, youth and women groups. It was described as a celebration of transparency, accountability, innovation, and service delivery at the grassroots, while also projecting the achievements of the present administration and encouraging healthy competition among local government leaders.
GOVERNOR MBAH RECEIVES SPECIAL RECOGNITION
_His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah_, Executive Governor of Enugu State, was honoured with a _Special Recognition Award_ for _massive infrastructural transformation across Enugu State, disrup tive and strategic governance style, intentionality in service delivery, integral development down to the grassroots, and for positioning Enugu State as the new hub for Innovation, Business and Tourism in Nigeria_.
RESULTS OF THE STATEWIDE PUBLIC POLL
Following a transparent statewide public poll conducted by Enugu Media Village, the poll officially closed at _3:00pm_. The results were announced live on screen by a panel of respected leaders including _Hon. Chimaobi Samuel Atu_, Member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency; _Hon. Barr. Osinachi Nnajieze_, Attorney General of Enugu State & Commissioner for Justice; _Hon. Barr. Chimaobi Okorie_, Commissioner for Land and Urban Development; and Women Representatives.
The results and awardees emerged as follows:
1. 1st Position: Nsukka LGA — _Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa_, Mayor of Nsukka LGA, with _over 110,000 votes_
2. 2nd Position: Isi-Uzo LGA — _Hon. Obiora Obeagu_, Mayor of Isi-Uzo LGA, represented by _Hon. Ugwu Stephen_, with _109,000 votes_
3. 3rd Position: Uzo Uwani LGA* — Hon. Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, Chairman of Uzo Uwani LGA, with _about 105,000 votes_
The three top LGAs were recognized for _exemplary performance in road infrastructure, primary healthcare revitalization, education, youth empowerment, SME support, and effective communication of government policies at the grassroots_.
OTHER DISTINGUISHED AWARDEES HONOURED
In addition to the LGA winners, _Enugu Media Village_ also honoured 7 distinguished Nigerians for their outstanding contributions to nation building:
1. _His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ken Ugwu Nnamani, GCON_ — Former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. _Recognized for his exceptional leadership style, legal prowess, selfless defence and promotion of the Rule of Law, and as a renowned ambassador of quality and people-centered governance._
2. _Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu (RG)_ — Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District at the _Red Chambers_. _Recognized for quality representation, steadfastness in service delivery, commitment to good leadership, and active promotion of youth inclusion in politics and governance._
3. _Hon. Chimaobi Samuel Atu_ — Member, House of Representatives, Enugu North and South Constituency. _Recognized for his exceptional leadership, service delivery, and gender balance in his leadership style._
4. _Dr. Ben Nwoye_ — APC National Deputy Chairman South. _Recognized for exemplary leadership, and passionate advocacy for unity and progress of all Nigerians._
5. _Rev. Dr. Amb. Chimaobi Aninwene_ — Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria – PFN, Enugu State Chapter. _Recognized for his commitment to advancing Christianity, love, peace and unity within Enugu State and beyond._
6. _High Chief Festus Oshaba_ — _Recognized for his exceptional leadership skills in transforming the economic space, human capital development and profound service delivery._
KEYNOTE ADDRESS AND VALIDATION OF THE POLL 
Delivering the keynote address immediately after the opening prayers, the _Director General of Enugu Media Village, Hon. Engr. Uche Kelvin Edeh (UKE)_, unveiled the purpose of the event. He stated that the ceremony was designed to _document governance, reward excellence, and promote the gains of the _Tomorrow is Here_ agenda_. He appreciated all stakeholders for their support and reiterated EMV’s commitment to media advocacy and good governance.
Following the DG’s speech, _Hon. Nnanna Nze_, _Former Executive Chairman of Agwu LGA and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Enugu Media Village_, profoundly emphasized that the _Local Government online poll was transparent and void of any manipulation_. He declared that _“the result of the winner clearly reflects accountability and transparency in governance and public service.”_

Osinachi Nnajieze_, Attorney General. The religious community was represented by _Rev. Amb. Dr. Chimaobi Aninwene_, represented by _Hon. Christopher Nnanyelugo Atu_.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and plaques to the top 3 LGAs and all special awardees, followed by professional media coverage, cultural displays, and networking.
