History was made as the Enugu Media Village Accountability Engagement Grand Finale, Awards and Recognition Ceremony successfully concluded with the unveiling of the highest-performing Local Government Chairmen in Enugu State.
It was a remarkable gathering dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, excellence, and purposeful leadership at the grassroots level. In a world where recognition often arrives late, this event chose the unusual path of rewarding performance while the work is still unfolding. A rare habit among humans, but a useful one.
The online voting exercise officially came to an end at exactly 3:00 p.m., following a one-hour extension granted to allow greater public participation. The entire event was streamed live across multiple platforms, ensuring that supporters, stakeholders, and citizens who could not attend physically were able to witness every moment of this historic occasion.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities, including the Director General, Hon. Uche Kelvin Edeh; the BOT Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze; the Vice BOT Chairman, Hon. Barr. Chimaobi Okorie; the Director of Information, Dr. PraiseGod Edeh; and Dr. Ben Nwoye, APC National Deputy Chairman, who was ably represented by Dr. CNN Nwafor. Also present were directors, executives of Enugu Media Village, and numerous respected dignitaries from across the state, all arriving promptly in demonstration of their commitment to the vision of the organization.
Taking the stage, the Director General, Hon. Uche Kelvin Edeh, warmly acknowledged the presence of all dignitaries and participants before delivering a powerful address on the vision and mission of Enugu Media Village. He emphasized that the organization is not a political support group, but a formidable media powerhouse established to promote good governance, transparency, accountability, and the outstanding developmental strides of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He further explained that Enugu Media Village is committed to replacing outdated leadership culture with modern, result-driven systems that prioritize measurable performance and service delivery.
In his goodwill message, the BOT Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, expressed profound appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme, with special recognition to the Director General for his visionary leadership. He urged Ndi Enugu to continue supporting Enugu Media Village, describing it as an organization genuinely committed to advancing the state’s development agenda. He also commended the Governor of Enugu State, declaring:
“Our Governor is working, and we are proud of him.”
Following the close of online voting, the collation of results commenced in full public view, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
The final results were announced as follows:
🥇 1st Position: Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, emerged as the Best Performing Local Government Chairman in Enugu State, securing an impressive 110,447 votes.
🥈 2nd Position: Hon. Barr. Obiora Obeagu, Chairman of Isi Uzo Local Government Area, polled 110,278 votes.
🥉 3rd Position: Hon. Barr. Chijoke Ezugwu, Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, finished third with 110,211 votes.
To further demonstrate absolute transparency and credibility, blank certificates were brought before the high table in the full view of dignitaries and attendees. The names of the winning chairmen were inscribed on the certificates according to their verified positions and officially announced scores, leaving no room for doubt regarding the integrity of the process.
The occasion was further dignified by the presence of several eminent personalities, including the Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Ani, the Attorney General of Enugu State, and many other respected political leaders, public office holders, and distinguished guests.
Indeed, the grand finale was a memorable celebration of excellence, accountability, and visionary leadership. It demonstrated that when citizens are given a platform to assess public office holders objectively, democratic governance becomes stronger and more responsive.
