ENUGU — Enugu Air has commenced its first international route, connecting Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu directly with Douala International Airport in Cameroon, marking a new phase in the airline’s expansion into regional aviation. The service commenced on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The new route is scheduled to operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, providing a direct air connection between southeastern Nigeria and Cameroon’s commercial hub. According to Enugu Air’s Chief Operating Officer, Ugonna Agubuokwu, the service is intended to bring businesses, families and economic opportunities in Nigeria and Cameroon closer together.
Under the published schedule, flights from Enugu are scheduled to depart at 12:45 p.m. and arrive in Douala at 1:45 p.m., while the return service departs Douala at 2:30 p.m. and arrives in Enugu at 3:30 p.m. The airline says the timing is designed to facilitate connections for passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja through Enugu.
The route is being operated with an Embraer E170, with reports indicating a 76-seat configuration. Enugu Air’s first international service comes after the airline began domestic operations in 2025 and received its Air Operator Certificate from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority in March 2026.
The Enugu–Douala connection also creates a direct scheduled link between southeastern Nigeria and Cameroon, potentially providing an additional option for passengers travelling for business, trade, tourism and other activities. It further positions Akanu Ibiam International Airport as an access point for regional air travel beyond Nigeria.
For Enugu Air, the commencement of the route represents a transition from domestic operations into the international regional market, while the airline says it plans to continue developing its network and connectivity from its Enugu hub.
