ENUGU — The Enugu State Government has warmly welcomed Ndi Enugu who have recently returned home from South Africa, assuring them of the State’s continued support as they begin a new chapter of their lives in their homeland.
The warm welcome, conveyed by Olangwa Ezekwu, Esq., Special Personal Assistant (SPA) on Diaspora Matters, underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring that Enugu indigenes returning from the diaspora are not left to navigate the challenges of reintegration alone.
Ezekwu reassured the returnees that Enugu State is with them, stressing that their return should be seen not as an end to their aspirations, but as an opportunity to rebuild, reconnect with their communities and explore new possibilities within the State.
“You are not alone. Your State is with you, and support will continue as you rebuild and reintegrate,” he said, while extending a heartfelt welcome to the returnees on behalf of their people and the State.
The message further reflects the importance of creating an enabling environment where returnees can reconnect with family, access relevant support systems, contribute their skills and experiences, and pursue sustainable economic and social opportunities.
For many Nigerians in the diaspora, returning home can come with significant adjustments. The assurance from the State therefore provides encouragement that returning citizens remain valued members of the Enugu community and have a role to play in the State’s development journey.
The State’s engagement with its diaspora community also highlights the growing importance of strengthening the relationship between Enugu and its citizens living abroad, while encouraging those returning home to become active participants in the State’s socio-economic transformation.
As Enugu continues to pursue its development agenda under the administration of His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the reintegration of returnees presents an opportunity to harness their experiences, skills, networks and investments for the benefit of the State.
